Spontaneous Interactions
I’ve been thinking about how I use my phone during the day, and it really feels like everything I do on it is quick and kind of unplanned. I’ll just unlock it, check something, maybe scroll for a minute, and then move on. It’s very different from when I sit at my computer, where I usually have a clear reason and stay focused longer. Why do you think mobile interactions feel so fast and spontaneous compared to other devices?

I think it’s mostly because of the context we use our phones in. They’re always with us, so we open them in those small in-between moments — waiting, walking, or just taking a break. Apps are designed around that behavior, so everything is optimized for speed and minimal effort. I remember reading this https://www.oxpoll.com/blog/why-mobile-sessions-feel-different-from-every-other-digital-routine/ and it explained how these short sessions shape the whole experience. Once I realized that, it made sense why I rarely spend long stretches on my phone unless I really plan to.
