Bogie Bearing Springs

Writer's picture: Steven CooperSteven Cooper

Order placed for the bogie bearing springs with Rotherham

based Owen Springs Ltd, who have made springs for Flying

Scotsman and Hogwarts Express.

Hidden away as part of the bogie, they support the front end.

Each spring has 21 oil hardened spring steel leaves, carries a

weight of 8 tons and transfers it to the wheels. The bogie

does the vital job of guiding the engine through curves.
